As with other drugs, Nexium was evaluated in clinical trials to check its safety and track any side effects. They do this by studying the side effects of those patients taking Nexium alongside those patients taking a placebo. They can then document what side effects occurred, how often they occurred, the severity of the symptoms, and how this all compares to the group of patients taking the placebo.
While some side effects were noted, this does not mean you will experience them. Some patients may experience one or more of the documented side effects, while others won't experience any side effects.
When you begin taking Nexium, you should keep track of any side effects you may have. If you do experience any, they usually disappear within a few days. If you have side effects that don't go away, or are severe, you should tell your doctor.
