Braised Sirloin Tips with Carrots and Rice

This recipe uses a minimal amount of vegetable oil, so you won't have to worry about heartburn that may be triggered by regular frying. It also contains heartburn-friendly ingredients, such as fat-free sour cream. So you can enjoy a good sirloin tips recipe without the worry of heartburn.

Ingredients:

  • Nonstick vegetable cooking spray
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 4 - 4 oz beef sirloin tips, 1" thick, all visible fat trimmed
  • 2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cup carrots, sliced thinly (can substitute another vegetable)
  • 3/4 cup fat-free or low-fat sour cream
  • Dash Italian seasoning
  • Dash salt
  • 1 cup long-grain brown rice, cooked according to package directions, without salt or fat

Preparation:

  • Add vegetable oil to a skillet that has been sprayed with nonstick vergetable cooking place, and place over medium-high heat
  • Add mushrooms, and sauté for 2 to 4 minutes
  • Remove mushrooms from skillet and set aside
  • Add beef sirloin tips to the skillet, and cook for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness
  • While the beef sirloin tips are cooking, steam carrots in a medium saucepan until tender, then set aside
  • Remove beef from the skillet when done and return the sautéed mushroom mixture to the skillet, and add the steamed carrots
  • Add the sour cream, Italian seasoning, and salt to the skillet, stir occasionally until heated through
  • Serve the beef sirloin tips with the carrots and mushroom mixture, and hot cooked brown rice.
