Forum Post: Comments about Nexium and burning mouth
makinglemonade says:
"I was on Protonix. Doing great for a few years then recently had a major GERD flare up to my surprise. Switched to Nexium. On and off I have been getting canker sores above my front teeth nearer my gums. I don't know if it's from my system being off balance from the acid reflux into mouth or perhaps a minor side effect from first starting a new PPI. They come and go. Right now I don't have one, but my mouth is not feeling healthy despite being on Nexium for 12 days straight. Not sure if I need more time to heal or if I need to see the doctor again. My tongue feels like it's been burned with hot coffee, tingly and bumpy like it's been scalded. Anyone else have these experiences after a reflux flare up despite being on a PPI for almost two weeks? How long did it take your mouth and tongue to go back to its normal happy self? Tongue is still coated and puffy. Dry mouth seems to be a side effect of the Nexium....Any suggestions or remedies to soothe irritated mouth/throat would be appreciated. There must be some sort of mouth wash prescription or otherwise that helps heal irritated mouths from GERD or any other health problem. I'm eating nonfat plain yogurt every morning hoping the acidophilus will bring things back to balance."

My mother has the same side effects you are having. I did speak with a pharmacist about the possibility of Nexium causing these side effects. I was told Nexium can cause these side effects. The pharmacist recommended rinsing the mouth with Mylanta and swallowing 4 times a day. The pharmacist also suggested to stop taking the Nexium and have the doctor prescribe something different. The pharmacist also said to avoid caffeine, chocolate, coffee, tomatoes, anything acidic like oranges or lemons. I did search some websites for Mylanta and mouth sores, they were more helpful ideas on those sites. I hope this will help you.
I found the information very interesting and useful.Thnaks.
your canker sores are from Nexium, I believe.
I had the same problem as soon as I re-started the med.
NEXIUM is prescribed to treat the symptoms of acid reflux disease, which typically include persistent heartburn on 2 or more days per week, despite treatment and change of diet.
Buy this No Prescription Generic medication, and if you are, your product will be mailed to you, with all the specifications and everything ordered just as a real doctor prescription, and this is perfectly legal, if it inst like this, then there is no reason for you to trust the place where you are trying to buy your No Prescription Generic meds from.
