A message posted on the Heartburn Forum is from a reader who has been recently diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus. The doctor has recommended surgery to fix this. Research states surgery won't help. Have you been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus? Are you willing to share your experience, and the recommended treatment for Barrett's esophagus?

"I'm really confused. I went to dr due to rectal bleeding, pain, something blocking stools. He did endo and colonoscopy. I have had IBS for 30 yrs, gerd 20, hiatal hernia diagnoised 3 yrs ago. New results include Barretts. Dr says I need surgery to fix it, so I came home and looked it up. Everything I have found says surgery will not help, there is no fix just need to be monitered. He says just found IBS and rectal prolapse, not cancerous, nothing can be done. Bleeding has stopped, I quit taking Plavix. I still have pain on bowel movements, and there is something blocking it. Anyone have any idea what he is talking about fixing? My health is not good, I've had 3 major surgeries in 2 years, really don't want to do another one."
