Question: What Are the Side Effects of Prevacid?

As with any medication, there is a possibility of side effects when taking Prevacid. In many cases, the side effects are minor and will either disappear within a few days or are easily treated. Unfortunately, there are patients who will have side effects that persist or are severe. If you are unsure whether any of symptoms you may be experiencing are a result of taking this medication, it is important to talk to your doctor.

Possible side effects of Prevacid are:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Stomach pain

If you have any of the following symptoms, stop taking Prevacid and call your doctor immediately:

  • Rash or hives
  • Itching
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing

There may be other side effects not listed here, so you should always contact your doctor if you have any unusual or concerning symptoms while taking this medication.
