Medications and Remedies

Remedies used in the treatment of heartburn / acid reflux. These include prescription medications, over-the-counter remedies, and alternative home / herbal remedies.
H2 Blockers
H2 blockers, also called H2 receptor agonists, are medicines that reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. They treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD.)
Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs)
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a group of medications that prevent the release of acid in the stomach and intestines. Doctors prescribe PPIs to treat people with GERD, ulcers of the stomach or intestine, or other digestive disorders that may cause excess stomach acid.
