I love spaghetti and meatballs, but sometimes ground beef will trigger my heartburn. With this low fat version of a classic spaghetti and meatball dish, extra lean ground turkey is substituted for the beef or pork. Fatty meats can sometimes trigger heartburn for some individuals.

Ingredients:
- 1 pound very lean ground turkey
- 1 slice white or wholewheat bread, crumbled into crumbs
- ¼ cup skim milk
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- Dash of pepper
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 8 ounces spaghetti (cooked according to package directions, without added fat)
Preparation:
- In a bowl, combine ground turkey, bread crumbs, milk, egg white, cheese, oregano and pepper. Blend together thoroughly
- Shape meat mixture into 12 evenly sized meatballs
- In a large nonstick skillet, heat olive oil.
- Add meatballs, and cook over a medium heat approximately 5-7 minutes, or until meat is no longer pink
- Cover and simmer for 15 minutes
- Uncover and simmer for an additional 6 minutes.
