Antacids for the Treatment of Heartburn / Acid Reflux

Antacids work by neutralizing acid in the stomach. Antacids neutralize acid on contact to provide heartburn relief.
Gaviscon
In addition to the acid-neutralizing ingredients found in most antacids, Gaviscon contains alginic acid and sodium bicarbonate. The combination of the alginic acid and bicarbonate will create a a foam barrier which floats on the stomach acid, possibly reducing the number of reflux episodes.
Chooz
Chooz is used as an antacid to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion, and stomach upset.
Tums
Tums is used as an antacid to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion, and stomach upset.
Tagamet
Tagamet works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. It is available in over-the-counter form. It is also known by its generic name, Cimetidine (pronunced sye MEH ti deen)
Di-gel
Di-gel is one of a group of over-the-counter treatments called antacids, and is used to treat heartburn / acid reflux.
Mylanta
Mylanta works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. It is available in over-the-counter form.
