Chewing Gum and Heartburn

Follow me on:

There has been a lot of talk in the last few days about chewing gum to help relieve heartburn. This may lead some people to think that this is a new discovery. Why haven't I jumped in there and reported on it too, you may ask. I did. Nearly 3 years ago. You can find the information in this FAQ Will Chewing Gum Relieve My Heartburn?

Before you hurry out and buy yourself a lot of gum, you should go slowly and see if this method of reducing heartburn will work for you. Chewing gum may lead to swallowing excess air. Swallowing air, in turn, can result in bloating and an increase in flatulence. You don't want to trade one problem for another.

Have you tried chewing gum to relieve your heartburn? Did it work? Please take the poll below and let us know.

I am Greek and now living in Greece where the famous Greek natural gum from the Island of Hios “Mastiha” comes from. Because it is very hard to chew, we use very little wax to make it softer. Chewing this is very releaving. But only Mastiha not any other gum. Thanks and regards
