Was It the Food, or Was it How You Ate It?

Tuesday August 12, 2008
Was it the onions on your burger or the spicy chili you ate that kept you up all night with a bad case of heartburn? Or was it the fact that you ate it 30 minutes before going to bed?

It is true that for many people certain foods will trigger their heartburn, no matter when they eat it, or how little of it they eat. For others, however, it may not be the food itself that's causing the heartburn, but when and how they eat.

For some people, they can trace their heartburn to eating too much food, especially if it's too much fatty or spicy foods. If they eat less of this foods at a time, they don't experience heartburn. For others, if they eat too close to bedtime, no matter what the food is, they'll experience heartburn. And then there are those individuals who will experience heartburn whenever they eat a particular food, no matter how little of it they eat, or when they eat it.

How does food affect your heartburn? Share your experience by taking the poll below. You can also discuss this topic by clicking on the "comments" link at the end of this post.
