Forum Post of the Week: "Esophageal Strictures"

Monday October 20, 2003
PHXHORN1 asks:
"I had an Upper GI done in '98, and they diagnosed me as having acid reflux, with some scar tissue on my esophagus. They also spotted some intestinal spasming, whatever that is. I was also having some difficulty swallowing, but the doctors never seemed to address that. . .At this point, swallowing is getting difficult unless I chew the heck out of every bite, and I drink a lot of liquids to wash it down. I tend to feel panicky if I don't something to drink when eating, or even if I'm having trouble getting a refill in a restaurant. Certain foods can stick in my throat and once I manage to force it down, my throat feels sore afterward. Today, some fish caught in my throat and I tried to wash it down with water. The water didn't work, and it all stayed in my throat and I couldn't breath and had to cough everything up."
